The Grand Opening

Kom op donderdag naar The Grand Opening van Left of the Dial 2023! Net als bij de Tour de France gaat eerst de Mini Caravane Publicitaire door de Leuvehaven om goodies uit te delen. Vervolgens speelt de allereerste band aan boord van het Left of the Dial schip dat om 18.30 uur de Leuvehaven binnenvaart, langs het Maritiem Museum, gevolgd door een ceremoniële wandeling naar de Arminiuskerk. Dat klinkt misschien suf, maar geloof ons: het wordt echt leuk!

Join us Thursday for the Grand Opening of the festival. Just like at the Tour de France, a Mini Caravane Publicitaire will pass through Leuvenhaven to hand out goodies. Then, the very first band will play on board of the Left of the Dial ship which will enter Leuvehaven at 18.30h and pass by our friends of Maritiem Museum, followed by a ceremonial walk to Arminius. It may sound pretty lame, but trust us, it’s gonna be great fun!

Tussen alle festivallocaties opent het vegan restaurant van Rotown een extra eetzaal voor alle artiesten én voor jou! Hier eten is de perfecte manier om iets in je maag te krijgen, zonder al te veel festival-tijd te verliezen. Bands on a Boat

Een boottrip van een uur door de Rotterdamse havens met alleen maar leuke mensen, een open bar én twee Left of the Dial-bands, dat is Bands on a Boat. De speciale boot maakt vier tripjes, twee op vrijdag en twee op zaterdag, beide dagen vertrekt de boot om 13.00 uur en 15.00 uur. Kaarten kosten €19,50 (inclusief bier/fris/wijn!) en zijn donderdag 8 juni vanaf 10.00 uur verkrijgbaar. Alleen geldig in combinatie met een Left of the Dial-passe-partout.

OPSTAPPLAATS
Adres: Boompjes 750
Dat is op loopafstand van (metro)station Blaak, ongeveer ter hoogte het oude Waterfront. Dit is ook het eindpunt van de boottocht.

ID
Om het barpersoneel zo snel mogelijk te kunnen laten werken, moet je een stempel hebben om alcohol te kunnen bestellen. Deze delen we bij het instappen uit, maar uiteraard alleen aan mensen die met een geldig ID kunnen aantonen dat ze 18+ zijn. Zorg dus dat je je ID klaar hebt!

GARDEROBE
Er is een garderobe waar je je jas op kan hangen, deze is niet bewaakt.

ROKEN
Je mag alleen buiten op het dek roken. Er zijn geen sigaretten verkrijgbaar op de boot.

BESCHERM JE OREN
Bij hoge geluidsdrukken is het slim om oordoppen te gebruiken. Zo hoor je goed de muziek, kun je nog steeds communiceren met je medebezoekers én bescherm je ook nog je gehoor. Er zijn geen oordoppen op de boot aanwezig, dus zorg dat je ze meeneemt!

A one-hour boat trip through the Rotterdam harbors with only friendly people, an open bar and two Left of the Dial bands, that is Bands on a Boat. The special boat makes four trips, two on Friday and two on Saturday, both days the boat departs at 1 pm and 3 pm. Tickets at € 19.50 (including beer/soft drinks/wine) are available from Thursday 8 June at 10.00 am. Only valid in combination with a ticket for Left of the Dial.

This is within walking distance of Blaak (metro) station, This is also the end point of the boat trip.

ID
In order for the bar staff to work as quickly as possible, you must have a stamp to order alcohol. We hand these out when boarding, but of course only to people who can prove that they are 18+ with a valid ID. So make sure you have your ID ready!

WARDROBE
There is a cloakroom where you can hang your coat, it is not guarded.

SMOKING
You are only allowed to smoke outside on the deck. There are no cigarettes available on the boat.

PROTECT YOUR EARS
At high sound pressures it is smart to use earplugs. This way you can hear the music well, you can still communicate with your fellow visitors and you also protect your hearing. There are no earplugs on the boat, so make sure you bring them!

LAAT JE EIGEN SHIRT BEDRUKKEN
Heb je zelf een shirt dat je wil laten bedrukken? Geen probleem! Voor €5 per ontwerp drukken we elk gewenst logo, of afbeelding op je shirt, tas of jas. Wil je 5 bands op één shirt, regelen we! Let alleen op dat de stof tegen de hitte van de pers moet kunnen, verder bedrukken we alles voor iedereen!

LET OP! In de Merch Minimart kun je alleen met pin betalen!

WACHT NIET LANG
Belangrijk om te weten: Bands bepalen zelf welke spullen ze verkopen en vooral ook wanneer ze iets verkopen. Als een band door moet naar een volgende show, kan het zijn dat ze al vroeger op de avond hun spullen meenemen. En omdat bands allemaal op verschillende momenten aankomen, verandert het aanbod steeds. Wacht daarom niet te lang met een bezoekje aan de Merch Minimart en kom regelmatig even langs om te kijken of er nieuwe spullen zijn!

BEWAARSERVICE
Geen zin om de hele avond met je aankopen rond te sjouwen? Geen probleem, de Merch Minimart biedt ook een bewaarservice zodat jij de hele avond je handen vrij hebt. Vlak voor je naar huis gaat, haal je je spullen op. Dus koop zoveel je kunt, dan kunnen de bands weer een nieuwe plaat opnemen!

EXTRA SERVICE VOOR ONZE ARTIESTEN
De Brexit heeft het voor Engelse artiesten een stuk lastiger en vooral duurder gemaakt om merchandise mee te nemen naar Left of the Dial Rotterdam. Omdat het een belangrijke bron van inkomsten is voor artiesten, hebben we een oplossing bedacht. Bands hebben ons een ontwerp gestuurd en op het festival drukken we ter plekke shirts voor de bezoekers. Dat betekent dat jouw favoriete ontwerp verkrijgbaar is in elke maat en kleur. Uiteraard gaan de opbrengsten van de T-shirts naar de betreffende artiest en hoeven bands ons niet te betalen voor deze service. Zo hoeven zij geen invoerkosten te betalen, kun jij een band steunen én gaan we verspilling tegen, want door het printen-op-bestelling-systeem blijven er geen onverkochte shirts in ons winkeltje hangen.

BRING YOUR OWN T-SHIRT
Do you want to bring your own shirt and have something printed on it? No problem! We charge €5 per design and we can print any desired logo or image on your shirt, bag or jacket. Even if you want 5 band logos on one shirt, we'll arrange it! Please note that the fabric must be able to withstand the heat of the press, otherwise we print anything you’d like!

Please note: at the Merch Minimart you can only pay by card.

LET ME HOLD YOUR BAG
Don't want to carry those full bags all night? Don't worry, the Merch Minimart is happy to hold on to your purchases till the end of the festival.

PLEASE NOTE:
Bands are free to sell whatever they want and, more importantly, whenever they want. If they have to leave the festival early to go to a next show, they might stop selling their merchandise long before closing time, so hurry to The Merch Minimart as soon as you can and check back a few times for new items!

AN EXTRA SERVICE FOR OUR ARTISTS
Brexit and travel restrictions have made it a lot more difficult for artists to bring merch to the festival, but Left of the Dial has the perfect solution! At the festival we will be printing band shirts to order. From all bands that have sent us a design, we will be able to print a custom T-shirt just for you in a size and colour of your choice. Naturally, all profits from the shirts will be for the artists (we don't charge them anything for this service), so support them and buy as much as you possible can!

In the Merch Minimart you can also buy Left of the Dial-merchandise, so the shop is definitely worth a visit!

Als je bij de servicebalie je polsbandje ophaalt, ontvang je ook een voucher voor een magazine. Gratis en voor niks! Een extra exemplaar kost €7. Ben je niet op het festival, dan kun je voor €10 een exemplaar bestellen in onze webshop en dan bezorgen wij het bij je thuis!  (release-/verzenddatum: 19 oktober)

LINE DANCING VOOR BEGINNERS
Kun je de Left of the Dial-zaterdag beter beginnen dan met een line dance-les? Onmogelijk toch? Er is totaal geen ervaring nodig, in een half uur tijd leert Gré Korsius van The Amazing Red Country Dancers je wat originele line dance-moves waar je nog jaren plezier van gaat hebben. Uiteraard leer je de dans op een nummer van een Left of the Dial-band, dus je kunt de danspassen die dag meteen in de praktijk brengen!

BONUS
De eerste 25 cursisten die zich zaterdag melden, krijgen de geweldige Left of the Dial-cowboyhoed! Nu al één van de meest gewilde souvenirs van het festival, dus wees er op tijd bij!

LINE DANCING FOR BEGINNERS
What better way to start Left of the Dial Saturday than with a line dancing lesson! No experience required, Gré Korsius from The Amazing Red Country Dancers will teach you some original line dancing moves that you will enjoy for years to come. Of course, you can immediately put the dance steps into practice on Saturday, as you'll learn the dance to a song by a Left of the Dial band!

BONUS
The first 25 participants that report to Arminius on Saturday will receive the awesome Left of the Dial cowboy hat! Already one of the most sought-after souvenirs of the festival, so be there on time!"
