Support your fellow festival fan

SHARING IS CARING

In Rotterdam there’s an amazing new project named Ticketbank. It’s an online platform which offers free tickets for concerts or events to people using the services of our local food bank. It’s a wonderful way to prevent those people from getting socially isolated, and Left of the Dial wholeheartedly supports this project.

We fully understand that some of you are also struggling to make ends meet and that a Left of the Dial ticket is already quite an expense. If so, this message is clearly not for you. But, if you have a little more to spend, there’s a way you can help us support Ticketbank:

Go to our ticket shop and buy one or more donation tickets for €5 each.
For every 10 donation tickets sold, we’ll put in the extra €25 and donate a Left of the Dial ticket to Ticketbank

SHARING IS CARING
Or, if you’ve already got a Left of the Dial ticket, but you can’t stay all 3 days, do it the good old-fashioned way:

For years, we’ve been offering Sharing is Caring, a service to pass on your wristband to someone else of you can’t stay for all 3 festival days. Initially, this service was meant for friends unable to attend on the same day; we just wanted to avoid the whole wriggling-off-wristbands-thingy and make it easy to share a ticket. But some people don’t have a friend to share their wristband with, so we’ll donate those wristbands to Ticketbank.

In case you’re wondering why we have the Sharing is Caring service instead of simply selling day tickets, please read this.
If you rather make a donation to the food bank directly, you can do so here.

Thanks for all your support!

DIY DJ party: open call for DJs

  1. Je moet een Left of the Dial-ticket hebben. Het is niet de bedoeling dat semiprofessionele dj’s gaan draaien die totaal geen binding met onze Left of the Dial-familie hebben. Dit moet echt jullie feestje zijn;

Please note: all spots for the DIY DJ nights have been filled up, it's not possible to apply anymore.

No need to complain about the music at the Left of the Dial after parties, just do it yourself: this year everybody gets a chance to DJ!

It’s still a work in progress, so bear with us, but this is the general idea:

In one of the late night venues we’ll have a DIY DJ Party where Left of the Dial ticketholders can play their favourite danceable tunes. Everybody who signs up gets a specific time slot to spin the wheels of steel, or whatever the expression is.

We have no idea how many people actually would want to DJ, so we can’t tell you yet how long those slots are going to be, nor do we know on which night or nights it’s going to be. That all really depends on you.

You don’t need much experience, there’ll be a skilled DJ present to help you out if needed. The only two requirements are:

    1. You need to have a Left of the Dial ticket – we don’t want any wannabe professional DJs who are just looking for an extra gig, but who have absolutely no love for our community;

    1. It’s supposed to be a party, so you need to play danceable music. This is not the time, nor the place to demonstrate your undying love for minimalistic ambient records…

If this sounds exactly like something you’ve always wanted to do, email us right now using ‘DIY DJ’ as a subject. Please include your Left of the Dial 2025 ticket number, so we know that you’re part of the family, and let us know what kind of music you’d want to play, which night you’d prefer, and how long you think your set should be.

If enough of you sign up, we’ll have the most amazing DIY DJ Party in October, but if it turns out that you collectively think this is the lamest idea ever, and you all rather just dance to other people’s music, than we won’t and we’ll just stick to the regular after parties!

More, more more! 12 new lineup additions!

BODY HORROR (UK)  ‘a dark and dirty mixture of pain and unfiltered ecstasy’
CLASSIC TRUCKS (UK)  ‘beautiful songs from the ugliest man in Bristol’
FELLATIO (NL)  ‘Rotterdam’s very own avant-garde disco punk post-penis krautpop trio’

Lineup announcement: The Feb 40!

THE FEB 40

Big Red (UK) / Bruise Control (UK) / Clara Mann (UK) / DBA! (UK) / DUG (US/IRE) / eat-girls (FR) / Eterna (UK) / FOSSICK (UK) / Fuzz Lightyear (UK) / Green Gardens (UK) / Honest Work (UK) / Laundromat Chicks (AUT) / Lila Tristram (UK) / Lintworm (BE) / MAGDA (UK) / Mên An Tol (UK) / Midding (UK) / Modern Woman (UK) / Moja (JP) / Mumble Tide (UK) / naya mö (FR) / October and The Eyes (NZ/UK) / Oliver Wilde (UK) / Public Circuit (US) / RABBITFOOT (UK) / Ryder The Eagle (FR/MEX) / semiwestern (US) / Shaking Hand (UK) / SILVERWINGKILLER (UK) / SOAPBOX (SCO) / Th Da Freak (FR) / The Empty Threats (AUS) / The Family Men (SE) / The New Cut (UK) / THE NONE (UK) / The Sick Man of Europe (UK) / Van Zon (UK) / Vieira and The Silvers (UK) / Y (UK) / YAANG (UK)

We consider this glorious day as the official start of Left of the Dial 2025. Of course, we’ve already announced some of the Extra Extras which was fun, but today we can finally share what truly matters most: new artists!

THE FEB 40
Are you in the mood for some soothing British bedroom pop? Or do you prefer the raw energy of a Japanese alt-rave duo? Whether you like indie pop, or indie rock, metal or wave, country or psych, we’ve got it all for you. The Feb 40 even include new/side projects of members of bar italia, Saloon Dion and Bloc Party. Alright, that’s enough introduction, please, head on over to your preferred music platform and finally get to know the Feb 40:

Big Red (UK) / Bruise Control (UK) / Clara Mann (UK) / DBA! (UK) / DUG (US/IRE) / eat-girls (FR) / Eterna (UK) / FOSSICK (UK) / Fuzz Lightyear (UK) / Green Gardens (UK) / Honest Work (UK) / Laundromat Chicks (AUT) / Lila Tristram (UK) / Lintworm (BE) / MAGDA (UK) / Mên An Tol (UK) / Midding (UK) / Modern Woman (UK) / Moja (JP) / Mumble Tide (UK) / naya mö (FR) / October and The Eyes (NZ/UK) / Oliver Wilde (UK) / Public Circuit (US) / RABBITFOOT (UK) / Ryder The Eagle (FR/MEX) / semiwestern (US) / Shaking Hand (UK) / SILVERWINGKILLER (UK) / SOAPBOX (SCO) / Th Da Freak (FR) / The Empty Threats (AUS) / The Family Men (SE) / The New Cut (UK) / THE NONE (UK) / The Sick Man of Europe (UK) / Van Zon (UK) / Vieira and The Silvers (UK) / Y (UK) / YAANG (UK)

MORE TO COME
The Feb 40 will probably keep you busy for a while, but we’re not done yet. Not even close. Over the next few months, we’ll be adding about a hundred more artists to the lineup, which may feel sightly overwhelming, but we’ll think of ways to group them all in an easy to digest way.

Let the fun begin!

The 2025 Extra Extras are here!

▸  Pool Party : zonning dag-dansen
▸  Why Don’t You Find Out For Yourself : een leerzame rolstoelervaring
▸  Bands in the Booth : Left of the Dial-bands die de meest dansbare plaatjes draaien
▸  Dine Like a Star : dineer tussen met Left of the Dial-artiesten
▸  After Parties : omdat Left of the Dial-nachten niet lang genoeg kunnen duren
▸  The Official Unofficial : gratis dagfeestjes, oftewel: Bands on a Budget

We hope to brighten up this year's Blue Monday with the announcement of the Extra Extras!

Of course, our musical lineup will always be the most important thing in the world, but a lot of people put a lot of effort into coming up with ways to entertain you on those scarce moments you’re not at a concert, and their efforts deserve some special attention too. So we figured, before you’re all way too busy getting to know dozens of new artists, we’ll inform you about some other reasons why we feel Left of the Dial is the best weekend of the year!

We don’t want to take up too much of your time, so we present you the first 17 Extra Extras Bluntly Oversimplified. You can always check the website for more information:

▸  Pool Party : sunny dancing at a very reasonable hour
▸  Why Don’t You Find Out For Yourself : a humbling wheelchair experience
▸  Giant Music Quiz : a giant music quiz for people who can’t remember song titles
▸  Synth Workshop : Learn about synths: Oscillators, low-pass filters, envelopes and a shit ton of modulation
▸  Bands in the Booth : Left of the Dial bands spinning the most danceable records
▸  It’s Always Christmas at Left of the Dial : the best way to celebrate Christmas
▸  Hangover Sing-a-long : communal singing to cure your hangover (also fun for teetotallers!)
▸  Memorabilia : collect all free give-aways
▸  Scavenger Hunt : discover the city, win a semi-cool price!
▸  Merch Mini Mart : the best place to support your favourite artists
▸  Bands on a Boat : a boat trip with an open bar and 2 bands playing on board (and an extra Beer For Breakfast trip!)
▸  Dine Like a Star : have dinner with the Left of the Dial artists
▸  After Parties : because Left of the Dial nights should last forever
▸  The Official Unofficial : Bands on a Budget - free daytime events!
▸  Photo Booth : official festival snapshots
▸  Karaoke Bar : your turn to take the stage
▸  Grand Opening : the most glorious way to start your festival

MORE EXTRAS
Always optimistic, we thought we could announce ALL Extra Extras today, but as it turns out, that was impossible. We wanted to do film screenings again (and we will!), but it’s way too early to select the perfect documentaries yet. Our former intern definitely wants to put together another art exhibition, but they informed us that ‘the creativity wasn’t currently flowing like it should’. And apparently it’s really hard to convince rental companies to host Bands on a Bus.

Another thing we wanted to announce was The Closing Ceremony. We always have a Grand Opening, and we thought it would be cool to also end the festival with an official ritual. So far we’ve learned that we can’t burn stuff next to the Buttplug Gnome and a lightshow of 2,000 drones is ridiculously expensive, but we’re still working on some other options. To cut a longs story short, there will be more Extra Extras announced later this year.

WHATEVER, WE WANT NEW MUSIC
If you’re not into daytime dancing, or scavenger hunting, don’t worry… Next month we’ll be back with the very first official lineup announcement: The Feb 40. Yes, that means exactly what you’d think, on February 20th we’ll announce the first 40 artists that will join us for Left of the Dial. We can’t hardly wait!

Help us get Left of the Dial into the Top 2000

The Replacements – Left of the Dial in.

Every year between Christmas and New Year’s Eve, a Dutch Radio station presents the ‘Top 2000 of All Times’.

People get to send in their absolute favourite songs which normally leads to quite a predictable list of 2,000 songs. This has been a tradition for 25 years, and usually the top 10 consists of more or less the same songs, with Bohemian Rhapsody on the number one spot no less than 20 (!) times.

Even though you don’t need a radio station to play your favourite songs nowadays, it’s still a big deal here. People actually take the time to make sure Hotel California gets played on the radio.

Puzzling, we know.

Now, we realise that we can’t change the inevitable but we thought it would be cool if this year, we somehow manage to get Left of the Dial somewhere in the low regions of this Top 2000.

Of course, it would be even cooler to get in a Left of the Dial band, but we’ve had over 400 bands on and we couldn’t pick a favourite even if our lives were depending on it. And if you all start voting for different bands none of them will make the list, because apparently it requires thousands of votes for even a 1999-spot.

So we need unity.

Please, join us in this pointless mission to get ‘The Replacements – Left of the Dial’ a chart entry. For no other reason than to show the world that there’s more music out there worth listening to and to maybe, just maybe convince radio DJs to start playing more Left of the Dial bands throughout the year.

Cast your vote here

Since the entire website for voting is in Dutch, we've made you some voting help:
