"known to bring even the most stoic to tears"

For fans of: Julia Jacklin / Adrianne Lenker / Fiona Apple

Bio provided by artist:
If anyone can silence a room, it’s Joburg-born, Melbourne-based musician Ruby Gill, whose arresting lyricism, honesty and deadpan wit have already garnered millions of streams, awards and radio play from triple j, to BBC and KCRW. Fresh off the back of sold out tours in Australian, South Africa, NZ and UK/EU, the award-winning artist’s “lyrical wizardry” has earned her the reputation of unmissable, especially among queer audiences around the world, with her 2025 Australian Music Prize-shortlisted sophomore record ‘Some Kind Of Control’ debuting on the Austrlian ARIA charts at #5 and making the shortlist for the Australian Music Prize (top 3). Ruby’s debut record ‘I’m gonna die with this frown on my face’ also garnered acclaim such as Sunday Times’ coveted “Breaking Act”. Both LPs have been flagged by the likes of Double J, triple j, BBC6Music and Rolling Stone as some of Australia’s best new music, with Ruby gracing lineups with the likes of Mon Rovia (US), Bess Attwell (UK), Angie McMahon (AU), Florist (US), Bongeziwe Mabandla (RSA) and more. On paper, Ruby’s debut poetry book ‘I’m not exaggerating when I say’ was recently released to rave reviews and sold out its first print run before launch day.
