Adept at distorted melodies and soaring arpeggios, massive walls of sound and noisy dissonance, Midscale is a shoegaze rock quartet formed in 2021 in Paris. Gabrielle (bass), Sébastien (drums), Eliott (guitar) and Yohann (vocals/guitar) met through their shared passion of the marriage between reverb and fuzz. The band released an EP in 2022, paying tribute to genre icons such as DIIV and Slowdive, before embarking on more personal and adventurous paths. In the two years since their first release, the band headed to the studio and started recording their debut LP ‘Movements’ (released on April 2024), receiving positive critical reception. Recorded at La Cuve studio in Angers, the eight tracks that make up the album reflect the difficulties of modern life through deep, cathartic sounds that borrow as much from shoegaze as from post-rock.
If the studio is what gives the four musicians free rein to explore and refine their own sonic moods, it is the stage that remains the place where Midscale’s music is able to take on extra meaning and a thickness in sound, enveloping the audience at every performance. Since its inception, the band has shared the stage with the likes of Pale Blues Eyes, PARK, Foxing,
Cosmopaark, Whitelands and Explosions in the Sky at Le Bataclan . From 2024-2025, the band toured France and England back-to-back to promote Movements.
