Latter is a Chicago-based noise rock project formed by chance in 2022 by Philadelphiaborn sound artist Meredith Haines and drummer Jonathan Alvarado (Beach Bunny). After a decade in the Philadelphia DIY scene, Haines had stepped away from music entirely— burned out and building a new life as a sound artist and college advisor. A spontaneous connection with Alvarado sparked weekly jam sessions that quickly evolved into a raw and unique collaboration. Drawing from Haines’ background in both sound art and modern dance, the band’s performances blur the lines between noise rock, performance art, and sound art, pushing beyond genre through a volatile mix of tension and vulnerability.
